There is a wealth of information out there on the internet, but there never seems to be enough hours in the day to take it all in. Luckily for us, the podcast was invented, so now we can get on with the mundane tasks of day-to-day life while listening to the experts sum it all up for us. We have created a list of a few of the best podcasts out there that speak directly to the issues that self-publishing authors face every single day. So, in no particular order, here they are:
The Creative Penn Podcast
Host: Joanna Penn
If you don’t know who Joanna Penn is, where have you been hiding? Penn is considered to be not only one of the most prolific and successful self-publishing authors out there, but also the most generous. She has taken the time to write books about how she achieved success and her podcast is a rich collection of that knowledge. Check out her site here.
The Rocking Self-Publishing Podcast
Host: Simon Whistler
This is a weekly podcast packed full of tips, tricks and stories from successful self-publishers. The podcast is interview-based and highly informative, and the companion website is brilliant.
The Self Publishing Podcast The Story Studio
Hosts: Johnny B. Truant, Sean Platt and David Wright
This weekly podcast is recorded from a live Google hangout, so it can be quite rough and off-the-cuff at times. The hosts are all successful self-publishing authors in their own right, and we get to listen in on the trials and tribulations of their writing lives. A very entertaining podcast, but a warning that there is strong language and it can run long. It was renamed The Story Studio in 2018 and the show took a slightly different focus, still worth a listen!
Novel Marketing Podcast
Hosts: Thomas Umstattd Jr. and James L. Rubart
A bite-sized monthly podcast which gives you quick and actionable tips to help you market your novel more effectively. It’s just a pity we have to wait so long between episodes!
Writer Mom Life
Hosts: Daphne James Huff and J.R Frontera
This one is a bit more niche than the others but no less important. As the title suggests it is podcast for indie author moms by indie author moms of all genres no matter their motivation. So, if you are a writer mom, click that link and subscribe! Don’t forget to subscribe to their extras newsletter on the Writer Mom Life website and download their awesome workbook as well.
